  •           N O T I C E   O F   R A C E

    RULES

    •  The Regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing published by the US Sailing Association.
    • The class rules shall be the rules of the FJ class.
    • Should any rules be changed, the changes will appear in full in the Sailing Instructions.
  • ELIGIBILITY & ENTRY 

    • Eligibility:  Members of Taylor Pond Yacht Club in good standing may skipper.  Members, guests of members and current year sailing students at Taylor Pond Yacht Club may crew. Skippers must be experienced and able to race an FJ safely and without damage. 
    • Entry:  Enter by notifying the committee of intent to race by email to jandrews264@gmail.com not later than noon, Tuesday, August 13, 2024.  Entry must identify skipper and crew and provide email address for delivery of Race Instructions and other documents by Race Committee.   
    • In the event more than six qualified entries are received, the Committee may schedule elimination races, and may establish a boat rotation schedule which calls for one or more crews to sit out each race so that the regatta can be accomplished in the available boats.  
  • BOATS

    • The regatta will be sailed in Flying Junior sloops provided by Taylor Pond Yacht Club.  
    • Boats will be assigned to competitors by lot as determined by the Committee.
    • Competitors will be responsible for boat damage other than normal wear and tear. 
  •  

    SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

    • If there are fewer than 7 entrants, the competition will be Saturday afternoon, competitors meeting on the deck at 1:30 PM.  Races to follow immediately after.
    • If there are 7 or more entrants, the competitors meeting will be Saturday at 11:30 AM.  Races to follow immediately after.
  • The committee will endeavor to complete the regatta Saturday, but in case weather or number of entrants require, there will be racing Sunday.
  • SAILING INSTRUCTIONS - The Sailing Instructions will be available before the competitors briefing.

    SCORING - Low point scoring will be used. The number of races that constitute a Regatta will depend on whether more than 6 boats register, and we have to do rotations. 

    SAFETY - A US Coast Guard approved personal flotation device shall be worn, properly fastened, at all times when sailing.  Failure to comply with this rule may result in disqualification. 

    PRIZES

    • Trophies will be awarded to skippers and crews placing first through third in the championship regatta.
