Junior Assistant Instructor Needed

Sailors! Would you like to help with sailing instruction for beginning and intermediate classes?

This summer, the sailing program is looking for one or two Junior Assistant Sailing Instructors. This is an unpaid volunteer position that allows you to improve your own sailing skills by sharing them with younger students. It may also provide useful training for possible employment as an assistant sailing instructor in future years. (This possibility depends on staffing needs.)

Applicants should have completed Level 1 and Level 2 sailing instruction (or the equivalent if they have learned at other clubs) and should be at least 14 years old.

We anticipate the position will involve working five afternoons, Monday-Friday, for the seven weeks that are slated for the summer lessons (June 29-August 14). The instructor will work with Level 1 and Level 2 classes for all seven weeks. If you anticipate having problems working every day for any reason, please explain them in your letter. We understand that it is important to be flexible with a volunteer position.

If you are interested, please submit by noon on Saturday, June 27, a one-page letter explaining your why you are interested in the position and what skills or experience you might bring. In addition, please provide a short resume (a list of your educational and other experience). Please pay special attention to any qualifications related to teaching sailing).

You can submit applications to Bruce Hall (brucehall.maine@gmail.com).
